Car Free in DC

Car Free DC

I dream of waking up in the morning and seeing the sidewalks full of walkers and the streets filled with bikes, scooters, buses and drivers car pooling. An organization called Car Free DC is having a car free in DC day on Tuesday that may bring us closer to my dream. The organization’s mission sounds wonderful:

CarFree DC’s mission is to promote car-free development that enhances local and global environmental quality, improves public health, raises awareness of environmental issues, and fosters a sense of community.

See you on the streets for the daily commute and be sure to sign up for the challenge before you start your day.

Make a pledge to be completely car free on DC Car Free Day. You can walk, skate, bike, scoot, take the bus or train, or telecommute. If you simply can’t avoid the car, pledge to be “car-lite” by carpooling or vanpooling.

CarFreeD.C. and take the pledge.
